What a mapping study costs
Prices are in Georgian lari and are not a menu of identical boxes. A depot catchment for one yard is a different piece of work from reconstructing twelve weeks across four sites. We quote after we know the yards, the period, and whether the records will actually support a drawing.
A fifty-percent deposit holds the weeks we reserve for your study. The balance is due when the final plates are handed over at the reading, or posted if you cannot attend. Travel outside Tbilisi is itemised: rail or road, lodging if a gate visit starts before dawn. We do not add a ‘complexity’ percentage without saying what was complex.
If the records, once seen, cannot support a drawing — missing weeks, drops recorded only as ‘west’ — we stop and return the unused part of the deposit, minus the days already spent reading. That rule is also in the refund note.

What moves the quote
- Number of yards and whether they keep comparable books.
- Length of the period — a week is cheaper than a season, and often too thin to trust.
- Whether we must travel to Poti, Batumi, Kutaisi, or the Armenian road, and for how many days.
- Language of the records. Georgian and English we read in-house; other scripts add a copyist we will name in the quote.
- How many plates you want to hang. Extra sheets after the agreed set are billed by the plate.
- Rush. A study pulled forward into a harvest week costs more because the drawing room is already on the road.
